  1. It does! Thank God you're a night owl. Many, many thanks.
  2. Just e-mailed it to you. Hope it's OK.
  3. The whole file? It's like 3.6 mb
  4. I'm a bit of a newbie, I'm afraid. Not sure what you mean. The custom value list in question has about 1,600 items, all of the Canadian postal code combinations (the Canadian postal code is like this: ANA NAN (A being alpha and N being numeric). The first part is how it needs to be sorted. The customer records in my database (I'd be embarrassed to show it to you; I started it with no knowledge whatsoever and while it works, it's no doubt quite convoluted) have a specific field called Postalcode 1 (for the first part). And that is how they need to be sorted.
  5. Hi folks, Having trouble with this. It seems simple but it just doesn't work. I have a customer mailing list that must be sorted by a specific (Canadian) postal code order, required by Canada Post. Specifically, the first three digits of the postal code, which are ANA (alpha, numeric, alpha: for example J5A) The field itself is a text field, necessarily. I've got the required order in a value list. In the script, when I try to sort it by that list, it seems to work for the first few, then it seems to start over and pretty much go alphabetically. Can you explain why this is? And what the heck I can do about it? The next mailing has to go out in less than 48 hours, and the postal code thing is throwing a major curve. It's the only thing about upgrading to Filemaker 8 (from an old Fox Pro relic) that hasn't worked out so far. Serious, serious problems if I can't get it solved quickly. Help much appreciated.
