    Tables and tabs.

Hello, I'm sure a few more of the regulars will chime in a few minutes/hours or days to chastise me because I don't understand some of the notions that you understand because you do this for a living. All the best and may I suggest that you take a few deep breaths and lighten up. You're way too bitter to be capable of helping others, with all due respect:)

Thank you. So far, you have provided me with the closest I could get to getting an answer. I will study these options and get back to you. Thank you so much

Hi I have tried to turn to professional help, but the expense is too much for what my budget can take. The latest, GTI, wanted 2000$ just to look at my database. And it isn't at all nice of you to either judge me, compare me or insinuate that I am an underachiever because I didn't understand what you were trying to tell me with the example you posted for download on this forum. I really do appreciate your trying to help me, but I have noticed that advances users of any software tend to try to explain things over novices heads, without really realizing what it means to be a novice. Again, I appreciate any help you have offered me.

Hi, Sorry to have touched a sensitive nerve there. I suppose I should have pretended I understood what was posted : And yes, I did read the manuals and I did attempt this on my own to no avail and yes, I do appreciate the help and the fact that the people that post here are volunteers. What I need, that is not unheard of when dealing with complex and very specialized software, is for someone to take me by the hand, literally, in order to accomplish what I need done. Thanks

"Perhaps you should take a look at the tutorial files and user guide that came with FM Pro. It should give you a better bearing." I already have and I couldn't find my answers there. Secondly, I am not interested in becoming a programmer nor developing my solution further. I merely asked a question that I thought somebody would be kind enough to help me out with in order to group all my tables under one interface in order to avoid some clicks of the mouse. Thanks for your suggestion, though.

Hi I don't understand how this is related.

Hello and thanks for the response. In my case, I don't have layouts within a specific table but different tables. I can't see how this solution applies to me. Thanks

Thanks for the responses. I think that I need to repeat that I am a complete novice in FMP and that I haven't the *slightest* of what any of the aforementioned posts mean or how to proceed. Is there a participant in this forum that can talk to me at my level of understanding of FMP? Thanks

    Tables and tabs.

Hello, I've posted here before but the answers I got made me realize that I am too much of a novice to screw around with trying to put 4 different tables that I have (Clients, Invoices, Appointments and Daytimer) in the same table. My question is this: Is there a way to use some kind of tab method in order to make each table appear every time i click on a different tab in a "master" table? Please, being a novice, I would appreciate an easy answer. Thanks:)))

    Hello all

Thanks I'm still at a loss. I'll try to work at later, but I believe I'm missing some fundamentals here.

    Hello all

Hello again and thanks for responding:) My problem is that I have very limited experience with filemaker. I should add that I do have filemaker advance 9 (bit the bullet thinking it would be easier to modify my solutions myself instead of paying someone thousands to do it for me-yeah right). Could you please explain it to me with a little more detail. Take me by the hand, so to speak, if you have the time:) I understand I need to rearrange relationships and calculations, but I don't know how to import the table "Clients" into "invoices" and vice versa. And thanks to all for being so forthcoming wih help and suggestions. Unfortunately, you're much too advanced for my limited skills;) I wish I had the time to learn fmp, but unfortunately, professional and family obligations prevent me from doing this:(

    Hello all

Hello all, Apologies if this has been asked already. I searched the web and these forums to no avail. I have an older filemaker solution with 4 different tables converted to filemaker 7 files. I use filemaker pro 9 advance and I know it can be done. Invoices, Clients, Daytimer and appointments. It's a cludge, but it works. I need to merge, so to speak, all these tables into one table and use either tabs or buttons to change the view of the table. Is there an easy solution to this? Thanks for any pointers:)
  13. Thanks. Firstly, I'm trying to install on a separate disk (external firewire) before deploying the Leopard advance server version, so I don't really need to touch the working version, which is running on an Xserve dualie 2.3 GHz. To do anything else would be reckless from my part:) The issue is that there is a link to request a link for server 9 advance (version 3) for Leopard (http://www.filemakertrial.com/servertrial/form/entry.aspx), but when I download the file after having gone to the link provided by the folks at filemaker, it's the server, not the advanced version. It's really a shame, because I would like to try it out and deploy it, but filemaker inc. is making it extremely difficult. After all, the price for server advance is significant, and I'm sure it's worth every penny, but I would really, really like to try it out first. Secondly, it's a shame that it's taking the filemaker folks days to respond to my question. The way I see it is that if I ever need technical support, will I have to wait days also?
  14. Hello all. I am running FMS 9 for Leopard (just updated from version 2). I want to install a trial version of server *advance* so I go to filemaker.com, fill out the info and here are the problems I'm encountering. 1. Takes days before I got an answer (tried multiple times, see below). 2. When I finally get an email to direct me to the download page, it's not for server advance, but for server. 3. I've written multiple emails to filemaker support and I still haven't gotten an answer (yes, I did check my junk folder, just in case). This is a major PITA, not because it's a biggy in terms of time waisted. I'm on a high speed satelite connection and I get FAPped after 500 MBs. Given the size of the files, it doesn't take long to get FAPped. Can anybody direct me to a URL from where I can download filemaker server advance for Leopard trial? I'd be very appreciative. TIA :B
