  1. Our school is moving from XP to Windows7 and we are still using Filemake 9. When we try to set up the new PCs Filemaker appears to install correctly, but shortly after launching it crashes with Problem event name; APPCRASH Application: Filemaker.Pro.Exe Application version: 9.0.300 Application timestamp: 472bceca Fault module name: swi_lsp.dll_unloaded Fault module version: 0.0.0.0 Fault module timestamp: 4ca1fa9 Exception code: c0000005 etc I can't find any reference to this error, can anyone help. Thanks Robin
  2. Thank you. We have solved the immediate problem by finding a PC which has not had all the Java updates and with that we could run the Admin Console. It is unlikely that we will be able to persuade the school management that an upgrade is required, just to solve this problem. Could you confirm that Server11 would work happily if all the Clients are running FM9.
  3. Thanks Chris We only have event logging enabled, and I can't see anything wrong in that file. I have now turned on access and user statistics logging and will look later. Robin
  4. We are not able to use the Admin Console to manage our shared databases. The actual sharing is working perfectly. We can log onto the server console and access any of the settings under Configuration. However when we select Clients, Databases, Schedules or Statistics the data is displayed correctly but immediately we get "Admin Server Connection Error: An unknown error has occurred." On "OK" the console closes. We have upgraded to server 9.0.3.326. The server is on a windows server which according to our IT support is "running Windows Server 2003 R2, Service Pack 2 (and fully patched with all MS patches prior to SP2). The installed version of Java is Java 6, Update 3 – this officially reports from the Control Panel as 1.6.0 (build 1.6.0_03-b05)."
  5. We have recently moved from FM5.5 to FM9 on many of the PCs in our school but there are still many PCs and many databases which have not been update/converted. As a result we are having to maintain FM5.5 databases on PCs which have both FM9 and FM5.5 installed. There are no problems except that... In FM5.5, every time we create a new layout we get "Filemaker Pro.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." A new blank layout is the only one which works. Thanks.
  6. Thanks, Genx. That gets round the problem. I should perhaps have given more background. This database has recently been migrated from FM5.5 and the field in question holds data of the type 5/CS/01/H. FM5.5 seemed to treat this as one "word" whereas version 9 splits it up into four "words". Further investigation has shown that a search for *N will find x/EN/x as well as x/EE/N but not x/NE/x or x/ENE/x. I would be interested to know if there is a way to go back to the 5.5 behaviour, but if not, we will use your solution.
  7. I have a database where searching a text field for *N gives the same results as a search for *N*. I want to select records with with N as the last letter in that field but I am returned records with N anywhere. I believe that this might have something to do with indexing since if I set the indexing language to Unicode the problem does not occur. Are there any problems with doing this to the indexing or is there another way to solve the problem. Thanks.
