Hi,

We are looking to convert an old solution in FM 11 to FM 15. We have 80 to 90 files in .fp7. A rewrite of the application will be time consuming . My thoughts are to first do a conversion and then rewrite or refactor different parts of the application.

As far as we know this has to be done manually :

  1. Convert .fp7 files to .fmp12 files

  2. Create DDR of converted .fmp12 files

  3. Search for <unrelated>, <missing>, <unindexed> etc. issues in DDR. And Fix those issues.

  4. We are using plugins as well, so we will upgrade those plugins for FileMaker 15 and will make necessary changes in its calculations/scripts/relationships.

  5. Fix any issues found

Are there known tools or some automated ways to resolve conversion issues ?

In the past we used MetaData Magic tool to convert fp5 to fp7 files. Metadata Magic provided the report -  list the issues which had to be fixed before and after conversion.  It reduced cleanup work both before and after conversion.

It is not available for processing fp7 files. (http://www.newmillennium.com/metadatamagic/)

Does anyone know of a similar tool to simplify/expedite /automate  conversion from  fp7 to fmp12 files ?

Thanks and Regards,
