Can't run applet in Apple OS 9

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

It is not really a Filemaker issue but I can't run applets in Netscape 4.7x of Mac OS 9.0

I have Internet Explorer 5.0 installed in the same machine and it runs all applets fine, but netscape do not seem to run it. I have installed MRJ but still no luck.

Anyone know what to do?

Many thanks in advance,

simon

Have you checked the preferences, which allow Java Applets to be run?

Good Luck.

Yes, it always has been enabled...

At java.sun.com and there is an applet in the loading page.

When I go there with Netscape 4.7x, netscape shows this error message:

"Unable to start a java applet: Can't find 'java40.jar' in your CLASSPATH. Read the realease notes and install 'java40.jar' properly before restarting.

Current value of CLASSPATH:

Entrprise HD:Netscape Base Install Folder:Essential Files:Java:Lib:ifc11.jar

"

Well, obviously netscape can't find the file. But the file is there ...

Is there anyway to change CLASSPATH

Honestly, the only other person I know in this world using Netscape 4.7x in Mac, also tells me that he can't run applet in Netscape

So, is there anyone with Mac OS 8.6 who can run applets in Netscape?

Any help appreciated

It's been a while but I am still having the problem. Is there any of you who can run applet on Netscape 4.xx on MacOS 9 ??

If it cannot be done please let me know so.

I have just been able to run some of the older Applets, from the "java.sun.com" archive without problems.

The computer I was testing on is MacOS 8.6 with Netscape Navigator 4.08

All the best.
