Bikeman17 Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 A visitor contacted me about a run-time solution (demo). The guy told me that when he clicked on Menu Solution.exe, the program showed an error message. We discussed that over the phone. At the beginning, the message was telling that FMCOR10.DLL was missing. But the file is in the folder!! The guy double-clicked on that file and tried to launch the program. He got a new error message for another FM... file. And the error message keeps skipping from one to another FM... file. I compiled another solution and the guy is still having that problem. I can run the solution on my PC (XP). The guy has Windows 98 with enough RAM I guess. What is going on with that freeking solution? Bikeman17
The Bridge Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 Does your client have the files shfolder.dll and comctl32.dll files on his system? These files are not generated by Developer; they are installed by either Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 or Internet Explorer 4 or higher.
Bikeman17 Posted June 27, 2002 Author Posted June 27, 2002 I don't know. I will ask him. Does he have to delete them? I am not familiar with those files. What are their purpose? Bikeman
The Bridge Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 Sorry, I should have been more specific. Those DLLS are necessary for FileMaker runtimes to work on Windows, but are not installed or generated by FileMaker Developer. Probably a licensing issue. At any rate, if your client does not have the files, have him install Internet Explorer. Hopefully that will resolve the issue. If he does have the files, I'm stumped. One last option (from me) You should have a directory called Runtime Files somewhere in your FileMaker folder. In there is a System folder for Windows runtimes that contains import filters (*.flt) and dictionaries (*.mpr). This folder is not installed into a runtime solution by default. When you bind your solution, copy that folder to the root folder of your solution and see if that helps. Good luck!
Bikeman17 Posted June 27, 2002 Author Posted June 27, 2002 I sent you a private email. I tried to contact you using the email address shown in your member details. I am not sure if this address is correct. Bikeman
The Bridge Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 I got your private message on FMForums; as for the e-mail address, it is correct but you must remove the _removemefirst_ before sending. This is intended to confound e-mail-grabbing scripts.
Newbies ptosto Posted December 17, 2002 Newbies Posted December 17, 2002 I have a customer with the same problem. Did you ever come up with a solution?
