FMDiSC (FileMaker Developers in Southern California) is proud to announce its next monthly meeting, on Friday, December 8, from 9:30am to 1:00pm. If you've never been to one of our meetings before, just feel free to show up - no need to RSVP. We'd love to see you at the meeting; new members are always welcome!

December's Agenda

PERFORMING SCRIPTS ON SERVER (presented by Vince Menanno of Beezwax, Todd Geist of Geist Interactive, Mark Kimbrell of Alchemy Consulting Group): It's so fast and clean to perform EVERYTHING on server, but it's not always a good idea.  Ever wonder how FileMaker Server handles multiple PSOS requests? At the same time? What are the limits for concurrent PSOS sessions? Do they ever conflict with each other? How can you manage PSOS sessions, do debugging or logging? How to see what the PSOS script is doing in real time from your FM client? This trifecta of FM performance experts will share some great tips and tricks for making PSOS work for you and your clients.

CRUD: FILEMAKER DATA API BASICS (presented by Dave Boruff of Web Database Designs): FileMaker developers deal with CRUD every day – managing the creation, reading, updating, and deletion of data is a lot of what we do. But what about dealing with CRUD over the web?  FileMaker Server's Data API is a good way to go, and Dave Boruff will show us the ins and outs of it all.

FILEMAKER WEB DATA INTEGRATION AND REPORTING WITH TABLEAU (presented by Vince Menanno of Beeswax): Now that we've got the FM Data API and FileMaker Server 16's Web Data Connector, we can much more easily perform web-based interactive reporting straight from our FileMaker solutions by connecting them up with Tableau (https://www.tableau.com/).  Vince will demo some of the ways Beezwax has been using this software pairing to create fully integrated and interactive dashboards within FileMaker like you've never seen!
