Good Morning!

As I mentioned in my previous tread, I've been having problems importing images (just the references) into a container field and then viewing them in Filemaker on other computers on the network, via a mounted/shared folder. Well, I got it working fine, using the simple Insert Picture function, but for some reason the Batch Folder Import of images still doesn't work. Simply put, I can Insert a single picture into a container field and successfully view it through filemaker with a mounted shared folder on other computers, but when I import a folder of images, using the new folder import, and I correctly match fields, the images only show up on the computer that performed the import and not on any other. Am I missing something?? BTW, I'm using FM 6v2 Unlimited on Mac OS9.x

Any help would be really appreciated... this is really quite frustrating... Thanks.

I do a lot of document scanning and saving the reference as you are doing, and after a lot of experimenting have come to the conclusion that when a reference address is saved (during the insert picture script) it includs the hard-drive name if local (image folder on the computer doing the inserting), then the folder(s) and file names where the image resides. If the image is moved, forget it, the image cannot be shared on the network. What I have done is use one computer to scan the images and insert the images and another devoted only to storing the images into nested folders: shared folder (All Scans) holding the folders for the images. The reason for the nesting is that after about 650-660 images, the initial folder holding the images is filled and will not accept any more images (the scanning software - photoshop gives me a message "Scans1/02" is full.) This resulted, over the last 1 yr, in 5 folders needed to be shared from the storage server hard drive to the other computers on the network. By putting all the "Scans+Date" folders into a single folder called "All Scans" I won't have to go to the chooser and click on every individual folder just "All Scans" and the previously made "Scans+Date" folders. I cannot put the folders made before I created "All Scans" into the "All Scans" folder as the reference address is locked to just the name of the address at time of inserting and I don't want to re-insert all those documents.

Good Luck. Any problems or solutions, let me know.
