CloudContainer Launched! - S3 container storage, in-line image editing, simple file sharing, view office docs in-lineBy Smef
Blue Feather is proud to announce the release of CloudContainer! CloudContainer is a replacement for native FileMaker container fields with many advantages and lots of new features and functionality.
Store your container data in any S3-compatible service, like Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, and more In-line image editing - Crop, rotate, markup, and add text to images directly in FileMaker. No need to export, edit, and then re-import images. More in-line file viewing - View and interact with more file types directly inside FileMaker, such as office documents (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Photoshop, and Illustrator. Easy file sharing - Securely send links to people outside your database to allow them to download container data. The links can be set to expire and always provide the file currently stored in the container so you can update and the recipient can get the latest files. Files are stored in your own S3 storage, so you always maintain control over all your data.

I have been attempting to connect to a SQL database on my network using Monkeybread Software and each time that I attempt to do it I have encountered the same error, which I have attached here. I have set up an ODBC connection as well as made sure that I had the names correct, however I have gotten the same error message each time. Thank you for your help.
In the last weeks a few people asked about automating web viewer in FileMaker, so here a video to show a couple of features in MBS FileMaker Plugin:
To automate a website, you may first want to inspect it. For that you can use our Form Utility application to show which form fields are available. The application suggests which commands to use to query or set fields. Then you can use WebView.SetFormButtonValue, WebView.SetFormInputChecked, WebView.SetFormInputValue, WebView.SetFormSelectValue, WebView.SetFormTextAreaValue and WebView.SetFormValue to change form fields.
For MacOS and iOS in FileMaker 16 or newer you can use WebView.SetPreferences function to set preferences for developer extras and show the inspector in the web viewer.

Hi, I am using the Base Elements plugin Execute SQL command to select SQL on a table in another FileMaker file. For a file with many fields and quite a lot data in some fields, this times as about 1 minute just for SQL SELECT command for 1,000 rows. I haven't used MBS (monkeybread software) plugin yet, but I wonder if anyone knows if it is significantly faster?
I.e. BE_FileMakerSQL vs. MBS(FM.SQL.Execute..) - is one significantly faster?
Here's the code to select 1,000 rows for reference, $timer_seconds comes as about 60 seconds here. If I export same table internally in FileMaker using the menu export to Excel, it takes 29 minutes for all 41,000 rows, so timing seems similar for the Base Elements SQL. (NB there is some flag going on here in the FileMaker database so internal export gets 41,000 rows but script SQL SELECT COUNT(*) gets 200,000 rows for same table, but I don't think that is relevant to my question).
Set Variable [$time1; Value: Get(CurrentTimeUTCMilliseconds)] Set Variable [$part_ca; Value: BE_FileMakerSQL ( "SELECT * FROM Contact_ACTIVITY OFFSET 100000 ROWS FETCH FIRST 1000 ROWS ONLY" ; "&≠≠&" ; "EOR≠≠EOR" ; "DataContacts11" )] Set Variable [$timer_seconds; Value: (Get(CurrentTimeUTCMilliseconds) - $time1) / 1000] MBS command I think would be something like:
MBS( "FM.SQL.Execute"; "DataContacts11"; "SELECT * FROM Contact_ACTIVITY OFFSET 100000 ROWS FETCH FIRST 1000 ROWS ONLY" ; ...delimiters here I'm assuming.. ) We only have base FileMaker here on machine I am using, which can run the Base Elements plugin, but to run MBS plugin, needs FileMaker Pro Advanced to install it I think, am getting several databases in roughly same FM format where script workspace disabled, hence need to use SQL select run from script in my own external FileMaker file. Might consider getting FMP Pro Advanced if MBS is faster.
Tx any suggestions!
Nickenich, Germany - (January 28th, 2016) -- MonkeyBread Software today is pleased to announce MBS FileMaker Plugin 6.0 for Mac OS X or Windows, the latest update to their product that is easily the most powerful plugin currently available for FileMaker Pro. As the leading database management solution for Windows, Mac, and the web, the FileMaker Pro Integrated Development Environment supports a plugin architecture that can easily extend the feature set of the application. MBS FileMaker Plugin 6.0 has been updated and now includes over 3500 different functions, and the versatile plugin has gained more new functions:
With the new version we got a couple of new DynaPDF functions. One is the new optimize commandto rebuild and repair PDF files. You can do that before archiving PDFs or before creating a PDF/A file. If you need to embed XML for your invoice PDFs, please check the ZUGFeRD examples. If you need to extract text from a PDF, you can now decide between DynaPDF.ExtractTextfor the whole document or DynaPDF.ExtractPageText for individual pages.
Our JSON functions got a major update. We know can pass JSON around as both text and IDs. Using IDs can reduce the work the plugin does with parsing and speed up the process a lot. Please check the new functions JSON.Parse, JSON.CreateArrayRef and JSON.CreateObjectRef to create references and work with them.
Do you have a LDAP server or one for Active Directory? We have new functions to query LDAP server. You can perform a search and get back results. You can add, modify, delete and rename entries.
If you need to loopup an IPv4 or IPv6 for a domain name, you can use our new DNSLookup functions. The reverse way is possible by looking up domain name for an IP.
For handling zip archives we got two new convenience functions: UnZipFile.ExtractFiles expands all files from an open archive while ZipFile.CompressFiles adds files to an archive. If you need more control, we still have individual functions for the tasks.
If you are unfamiliar with SQL, but you like to use powerful commands in FileMaker, please check our new Insert/Update/Delete commands. FM.UpdateRecord lets you update a record without switching layout. With FM.InsertOrUpdateRecord the plugin either updates an existing record or inserts a new one. And with FM.DeleteRecordyou can delete a record without a relationship or changing layout. And those functions are available for multiple records, too.
For the FileMaker development, we got a new contextual menu entry for most list controls in FileMaker. Copy the list of fields or tables as text. Our Syntax Coloring feature is now off by default and turns on when you open script editor. This way regular users don't run into it.
We added html functions for clipboard, better hash, more FSEvents and path, new preferences and window, better listmatching and PDFKit functions.
Finally we updated DynaPDF to version 188.8.131.52, libXL to version 184.108.40.206, openssl to version 1.0.2e, SQLAPI++ to version 4.1.7 and SQLite to version 3.10.2
See release notes for a complete list of changes.
More details in the release notes. Please take the time to check our 350 example databases and check where you can use our plugin features in your solutions.
