Hello again,

Hope you're not too sick of me yet, here's another issue. I'm reading that FMP 5.5 and 6.0 will support LDAP or Windows Domain Authentication.

I am not 100% certain, but I think both will allow the user to log into the specific server first (with User Name and Password), and then log into the FileMaker Server. Am I off the track here?

If this is the case, it would obviously increase security of FileMaker with additional layer. Which technology is better and easier to implement in MAC/PC mixed environment: the LDAP or Windows Domain Authentication?

Thanks

Well...

Windows Domain Authentication is, despite all the hubbub, just LDAP. Yes, its LDAP with some beells and whistles, but its just LDAP. So really, it just depends on what kind of domain you want to manage. Once the LDAP is there, whether be within a UNIX domain, a Mac OS X domain, or a Windows 2000 or .NET domain, it is somewhat analagous to hook it to the dbase from type to type. Its all what kind of domain you feel like setting up.

In other words you're suggesting using Win Domain Authentication rather then LDAP, am I undersatnding you correctly?

Will it do the same thing?
