joegold Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 I have a label layout in which I deleted the footer because I thought I didn't need one. Now it turns out I do need the footer. I have repeatedly gone to part setup and tried to create a footer, but for some reason it won't let me create one. I have also tried to drag the part icon on the the status bar onto my layout, and selected footer as the part I wanted, and that also is not working. Anybody have any thoughts?
Fitch Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 You mean the Footer option is dimmed out? My theory is that you have a footer on there, but maybe it's too small to see. Try Layouts - Part Setup... and you'll know for sure.
joegold Posted August 27, 2002 Author Posted August 27, 2002 No, I had previously deleted the footer. It is not grayed out. I am able to select the footer, and hit OK, but when it shows me the list of parts, footer is missing. The parts I currently have are title header, header, and body.
Fitch Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 Did you try adding the Footer via the Part Setup... menu rather than dragging the Part from the status bar? Oh, never mind, I re-read your original post. It's possible the layout is corrupted. Your best bet may be to create a new one.
BruceJ Posted August 28, 2002 Posted August 28, 2002 I found the same issue... The solution - drap the "Part" from the toolbar to an area that is already defined. Drop it in there to creat another part - make it something like a "sub summary" or some other part just temporarily. It will divide the body - but no problem. Then rename the lower part to "Footer" and then rename the new "subsummary - or whatever" part back to "Body". You'll then have to resize, but you'll get your part back. My guess is that the issue is that it won't let you expnad the layout "page" through adding a part, you can only change the size of the layout page by draggin. This - therefor prevents you from tagging on a footer below your defined layout "page". Kinda a pain. Hey - is someone making a note of this for the FMP folks to fix in the next expensive upgrade?
