Newbies Ritchie Posted November 16 Newbies Posted November 16 Hey Everyone, I'm new to the FM Forum. I recently got a new computer and a friend of mine gave me FileMaker Pro 12 (It was a trial Version). He converted a few of my old FileMaker Pro Files from FM 4 up to Version 12. He sent them to me and I was able to use / open the files until the trial version ran out. If I buy the FileMaker Pro 12 Advanced License Key Card for Mac & Windows, FULL VERSION will it allow me to continue using Filemaker Pro 12 on my computer or no?. Please help! Thanks, R
comment Posted November 17 Posted November 17 (edited) There are two aspects to your question: technical and legal. I would like to post a warning for each one of these. From a technical point of view, version 12 is more than 10 years old and the highest Windows version it was certified for is Windows 8. It is quite possible it can run without problems on Windows 11 (in general, Filemaker has better record of forward-compatibility on Windows than on Mac), but you cannot be sure of that. From a legal point of view, you should be extremely cautious when buying an old version of Filemaker. I suggest you read this document very carefully and see if the seller conforms to the conditions set out by Claris: https://www.claris.com/company/legal/single-user.html Edited November 17 by comment
