I have a client that has an office 400 miles from mine . My office developed a system for him and we have a support contract with this client. Sometimes he asks for some changes and I am looking for an update manager so that someone from my office doesn't need to go to his office each time we have to include the changes into his system. Does anyone know if a "manager update" exists ? Does anyone have an idea about how to send these changes in order to make these changes as easy as possible to be implemented not needing a programer to do the update work ?

Thanks,

Luiza

Yes, I agree with you, it's not an easy question.

Sorry for the lack of information.

When I say "changes" I mean anything my cliente might need, it could be about define fields, layout, scripts, etc. I need this to work with any type of changes a client might need. This clients company doesn't authorize anyone outside joining his network. With this limitation the only possibility I think of is to have a sort of an "update manager" where I think it would be possible to send them the file or files and put this or these files in a pre defined folder and a system user (in the clients office) would be able to press a button and the script would do all the work for him. The script would replace the old files with the new ones would also import the data form the old file to the new one and update the fields that have auto-enter serial numbers. When I wrote the first time at this forum I thought there could be someone that knew about a prgrogram like an "update manager". I am working on this update manager but it will take some time with programing work.

I welcome any new ideas !!!!

Thanks

Build your updater into your solution that way if a client needs an update you can do whats needed then email or send them the file on a CD, Zip etc.
