Rich S Posted Saturday at 07:08 PM Posted Saturday at 07:08 PM Greetings all: Here's a puzzler: In the style that I'm using for the attached edit box, I've chosen "No Fill" for Pressed and In Focus, but when I click on it I get a dark green fill; there's no assignment of conditional formatting to the field, either, so where is it coming from and how can I change the default(?) color from green to something less obnoxious? TIA for your help.

Other than that it's anyone's guess. Or you could post a file that shows the problem (and preferably nothing else) so we could find the actual cause.
Rich S Posted Saturday at 09:34 PM Author Posted Saturday at 09:34 PM (edited) Here ya go. (Because it's from a proprietary file, I stripped it down to just a table with text fields.) Account name is admin, no password. As far as I can tell, fields turn green regardless of theme or style, so it's (possibly) something systemic. That, and the fields turn green with one click because the "Select content on entry" checkbox is ticked, or with two clicks when the former isn't ticked. On Edit: I wonder if it's hard-coded in FMP--it's suspiciously the same color as the "accent" colors within the program. (v22.x, Mac, by the way.) Copy.fmp12 Edited Saturday at 09:53 PM by Rich S
comment Posted yesterday at 05:31 AM Posted yesterday at 05:31 AM (edited) This is what it looks like on my system: The light blue color is coming from my system preferences > highlight color. You can verify this by selecting only a part of the text: It may have something to do with your using dark mode with a specific font color. Edited yesterday at 05:37 AM by comment
Rich S Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago (edited) Thanks—I never thought (obviously) to look there. It's really annoying because I, like many, prefer using "dark mode" on our computers. On a Mac, in dark mode, all the highlight color choices are...well...dark. *insert petty rant here* Either the OS should fully respect the custom color choice and gradient controls—which it doesn't—or FMP should have the option to override system color choices, similar to other apps where you can set their display in Light, Dark, or System mode. The least obnoxious choice in Dark Mode is Graphite with the color choice set to white—it's highlighted in dark gray. (I tried uploading a pic but there's a problem with uploading images to this site this morning.) Edited 18 hours ago by Rich S
comment Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I don't use dark mode myself so I don't know much about it. I've heard FM has some quirks with it, but I think these were mostly on the developers side. Have you tried using a dark mode theme such as Luminous?
Rich S Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago (edited) Thanks for the suggestion—I'll use Luminous while developing, but for the solution I'm working on (that'll go public in FileMaker Go), there's a lot of word processing/data entry involved; it's recommended that a light-gray background be used with black type (and white field fill) for maximum/easiest legibility. Boring, but eminently legible...so I'll switch themes before going into production. Edited 16 hours ago by Rich S
