Run a script base on Typing !

Featured Replies

Good morning all

I am new to Filemaker. I just want to know in Browse mode . There is a question asked : Yes or No. If I type Yes then it will run the script. How can the script attach to what I type Yes or No? ...I don't want to use button to run the script ...Is there aother way to run script based on what I type or select?

Thanks for your help

Not really as you type. FM is not a real time text parser. You can use a plug-in such as Activator to run a script on a field value after you type it, triggered by tabbing out of the field. You could use a looping script to check what has been typed, but the minimum FM pause time is one second.

Thanks Live OAk...

How can I have a plug-in Activator install on my computer in order to run the script?

Thanks

I should have mentioned both plug-ins. They are:

Waves in Motion "Events" found at www.wmotion.com

Troi Automatisering "Activator" found at www.troi.com

The plug-ins are purchased additions to FM. Installation will be described on these web sites.

Anh, can i ask what do you want FM to do with the script? if it's not too complex, it might be good to define some calculations based on what you type in a field

cheers
