Why not just buy FIlemaker on EBay ?!

Featured Replies

Why not just buy the Filemaker sw on EBay ?

I just browsed their website and found 21 separate deals for all verisons of Filemaker, even the latest version 6.0 .

I am not an EBay user and no experience with online trading/buying/auctioning...

Anyone here ever bought sw on EBay ? They describe that the sw includes all standard mfg's licensing etc.

The prices were all about $$10 to $100 dollars less than FM's prices !

Most of all I read claimed to be brand new sw and unopened etc.

(seems like these Ebay sellers are "really" large sw company distributors - not some joe-blow individuals)

Am I missing something here ? Anybody?

Thanks

I've bought Software via eBay, but not FM related. For mainstream and stock-in-trade items, the final bid prices are often not all that much better than retail, once you take into account the shipping costs and the time involved.

Where eBay really comes into its own as a source of SW is for obscure or non-current products/versions, which can sometimes go for sweet prices, too.

Ebay should be called 'russian roulette' when it comes to software. Depends a LOT who you are buying from. My advice is tread caarefully and watchout for the 'gotchas'.
