what kind of relationship to use for mirroring db

Featured Replies

Here's my problem:

We gotta family db related to parents and students. Their all bound together by a unique serialization family id number. So when you add a student or a parent, (through portals) it automatically assigns the family id, add removes siblings or parents, etc...

Now our Parent Assoc. (we're a school) wants to access the parent db of our database, but I don't want them to be messing around with the real parent db. Is there any way "mirror" the parent db so they can have their own parent db in which all the info. will be updated as our office updates the "real" parent db?

I was thinking about putting a portal within the parent portal but I don't think that's a possibility.

Help?

The only really practical way to give them instant updates is to grant some level of access to the parent db. If updates can be somewhat less than instant, just import the data in the parent db to a file you can give them. This could be done once a day or other appropriate interval.

You can't place a portal within a portal. (You also can't make duplicate posts of the same question. I deleted your other thread. wink.gif)
