Lookup Issue Need Help ARGHHHHHH

I am having a problem with my lookup fields in an aplication.

Basically I have a style database that has a items file attatched one is to many. In the items file the description of the item, the reorder reference,Supplier name etc. are looked up from the style file. This allows us to change any details that there might be from one item to the next.

My problem is, when I enter the item in a portal on the style database after entering the style details ( I enter a bare minimum of information in the portal, Size, Price, Qty in) it will not lookup the other fields.

The funny thing is if I then delete the item and re-enter it in the same manner it seems to always do the lookup. Any ideas?
