Ok, there's <<Total>>, is there <<Found>>?

Featured Replies

I found <<Total>> in a demo so I researched how to use this. I found out it's based on a calc, as you all probably know, of: Status( CurrentRecordCount)

But I am filtering data for each layout and now see that it'd be better to show the found records. Currently, I have this:

Record @@ of <<total>>

but was hoping to have

Record @@ of (found records), Total records = <<total>>

something like that. it's the "found records" I'd like to show. How to do?

In FileMaker, hit the Help menu, FileMaker Pro Help...

Type "Status" and press Ask...

Click on the "Status functions" entry...

You'll find all kinds of nifty stuff, including the one that gives you <<Found>>.

Enjoy.

I'm using FMP 5.5, what are you using?

When I put status into the index, only 2 entries come up, no real help there (oh, sure, if I can spare a big chunk of time each time sifting, sifting, sifting, maybe - and that's if I know more or less what I'm looking for). Then I put it into the FIND of the help and a million things come up.

If there is something much more specific that can get us extremely specific help on each option, then that would be great. But where is this in FMP 5.5 if it, indeed, exists? Now that you've said it definitely is there, then I know to look for status. There was no "currentrecordfound", btw, in the options listed when doing the calculations themselves).

Thanks!

The function that Brian (kennedy) was somewhat obliquely referring to is:

Status(CurrentFoundCount)

To find it in the options when you are in the calculation dialog, you must first access the drop down menu at the top right and select "status functions" - they aren't included in the main list.

Okay, forewarned is forearmed and I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm looking for something in that pulldown.

Works perfectly. I see that it works better just to have this for each layout:

Record @@ of <<Found>>

It looks like I'm dealing with two separate databases even though I'm not. Perfect.

Thanks!
