Unpleasant Portal Interactions

Featured Replies

I have experienced in several different situations that a Portal will make other objects that might be tucked behind it on a layout to behave irratically. My current issue is that I have created multiple layouts that simulate the appearance of additional windows of information being open or closed. In one of these I have a portal which in reality is sitting on a rounded-rectangle graphic object (for the window) which in turn is overlapping a calculated field that is returning a graphic as its result.

The graphic doesn't show, but the border of the portal by the scroll bar looks funky.

Is this just an issue because it is a field that it is ovelapping? Even though the field is behind, not in front of the portal?

Thanks in advanced to anyone that can shed some light.

With a portal, the front to back orientation means nothing. Basically I would start by putting everything you want in the portal, totally in the portal and nothing else. Keep everything else away from the portal. Filemaker consider everything in the portal part of the portal.

Thank you much.

Just make sure that the graphic is 2 pix wider (one pix per side) or 2 pix higher than your portal, put it behind and it will work.
