Is there a way to trigger a script when I leave a field? I'd imagine there'd be something like this since FMP does it when you validate something. Or do I have to buy a plug-in and what plug in would be good for this?

To run a script, yes, you need a plug in

To validate a field, no, you do not need a plug in (FMP 5 and up)

In the options for most types of fields (Define Fields->Options) there is an area to validate input. Use that to check input.
