Problem re-opening files remotely

Featured Replies

We are testing a newly set up a Filemaker server running v.5. When I remote access the files there appears to be no problem, all available files appear in the administration window. If I then close a file using remote administration, it disappears from the folder (as it should) and is then visible in the window which appears when the Open File button is clicked but if I select the file and click ok I get an error message saying the file cannot be opened. If Server is restarted the file is open again.

Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

Peter

You know, I get the same error. On FMS v5.5 on MacOS 9.04

Smells like a bug to me.

I posted the question on the FilMaker expert listserv as well and got an answer to the problem. The folder containing the databases you want to remote access need to be in the FM server folder, you can't link to them - say on another drive etc. using shortcuts. I got our IT guys to move my database folders and everything seems to be working fine now smile.gif .
