how to lock a record?

Featured Replies

hi,

is there a way to lock a record using scripts? i wouldn't want to lock all the records, just ones that i choose. perhaps with the use of a checkbox to define which records are locked and which ones aren't. to unlock, specify a password. if locked, no fields editable. if unlocked, all fields editable. using fm pro 6.0v3 on win2k. any ideas?

thanks,

jd.

You can do this one of two ways. Both require the use of a flag which indicates that the record is locked.

You can either use this flag in your navigation to take the user to screens that allow editing or those where the fields do not allow user entry.

Or you can use the Record Level Security in Filemaker v5 and above, allow editing based on the flag field.
