Basic value list ifo. needed.

Can anyone point me to information on the basic can/can't do stuff for value lists? I've been trying for some time to use them in my project.Some work, some don't. Missing index is my usual problem.

Only "stored" fields can be indexed, and only indexed fields can be used for value lists. This immediately excludes calculation fields that reference global or related values.

I'll bet that's your problem.

One related field work-around is to use lookups, but then there is the updating os values issue to consider (not insurmountable, just requires careful interface design and scripting).
