Auto refresh data with related fields

I have three databases related together and when I enter values into the main database the child databases do not update calculated fields automatically. I have to select something from a menu to update.

Why is that?

Try some of these techniques:

1) exit the record;

2) in a portal go to the previous row, then go to the next row;

3) change into preview mode, then back to browse mode.

All of these can be scripted.
