FMP Developer 6 Crashing Repeatedly on Win 2000

Featured Replies

I have a solution with many fp5 files that open up at the start of the first file. I just put FMP Developer 6 on my Win 2000 machine about two weeks ago and since then I have had the program crash probably 15 times while opening this solution and most of the time, it just says that it encountered problems and that it is closing and creating an error log.

Three times it has opened part way and I get a memory reference error message which I am attaching a screen grab of and I have to uninstall FMP Dev and re-install the application to get it to run. Unfortunately I cannot even pin it down to a particular file that is causing the problem, because it isn't always the same file.

Anyone have any insight or suggestions?

Hi:

That is an interesting error message. Not sure what it means, but it could be something where some aspect of one of your files is trying to access protected memory spots. This should not be happening (esp. with Win2k). Assuming that you have already reinstalled FM and tried to recover the files, one thing to consider is that some object on a layout may be causing the problem. If this is the case, you can only make a new file and transfer info. Sucks.

The goofy thing is that I can't replicate it in filemaker 6 unlimited.... doh.

Sounds like it's time to give FM a call. Besides the fact that you only get 2 help interations with FM, and most of the help ppl don't know much, I'm interested to see what their suggestion is.
