Anh_Tran Posted November 26, 2002 Posted November 26, 2002 Dear All, I installed Filemaker software on few machines then I realize that some machines open filemaker very fast and some open very slow . Do you know which important factors that make the speed of loading filemaker slow or fast? It seems to me that I have no clue how to find factors. Thanks
kenneth2k1 Posted November 26, 2002 Posted November 26, 2002 Hello: I beleive its like all other things in life: it depends but there are a couple of certains. Generally, since it is a database, a fast HDD, suitable RAM and a decent processor are good. For serving, a grip of server RAM, a couple of fast HDDs and a decent processor(s). But some in this forum will tell you not to overdue it. I agree, I have found that FM works excellent on your lower-to-middle road PCs. Some important factors to consider are: A lot of indexed calculations A lot of records within files with alot of loops Structure that may have alot of pauses or extraneous procedures ...some other things that others will say.
