Export a sum of the number of different states...

Featured Replies

Here's my problem, and in case anyone is wondering, yes I am a newbie, but any help would be very greatly appreciated. Ok, in the database, there are records containing address info. In each record a field "ST" contains which abbreviated state they are from. I need to export into html (the easy part) a sum of how many people are from each state (the hard part). I need to have a total of all records found exported and also be able to break it down into tables showing how many from each state. Thank you for any help!!!

Ken

The export function allows you to summarize upon export. Create a summary field (call it StateCount) defined as Count of State (any non-empty field will work). Sort the file by State and select both the State and StateCount fields for export. In the export dialog, select the "Summarize by" button and click to the left of State to check it as the field to summarize by. You will now see the "StateCount by State" in italics, this is your summary field. Delete the StateCount field not in italics and proceed with export.
