Can a script define a new field?

Featured Replies

Ok, dumb question here, I'm working on a script that will automatically see if a field exists, and if not, create one (or many). Can you create a new field and enter text into it with a script? TIA.

Ken

Nope, sorry.

What end result do you want to accomplish, and there may be an alternative.

Well, I'm making a script to export an html file that shows how many addresses there are by state, i.e. CA - 235, and to do this manually I create a field called "StateCount" which has a summary of the field "ST." and then manually export this...btw, I'd like to be able to export this into a table in a premade webpage...can I do that w/o using xml? Or if so, how? Sorry, I'm pretty much a newbie, starving college student and all that wink.gif .
