i have a problem with importing a picture into a container field with the option 'store only a reference to the file'. this works fine on my desktop mac, but on the powerbook (3400, system 8.5, FP3) it imports and gets stuck in some sort of loop, where it's keeps repeating the import forever (the 'importing' box with the progress bar) until i press a key. it may then stop until i switch to another record and then it does the same thing. like i say, it works perfect on the desktop, so it shouldn't have anything to do with the actual file or its script. it also works when importing the actual picture, rather than just the reference.

Make sure you have the same version and patch of FMP on both machines, and both are the latest patch level.

the version is the same on either machine, but i'm not sure what you mean by patch or patch level. is that what's in the claris folder in the system folder?
