trigger script form field

Featured Replies

Hi

I need to trigger a script from a calculation field, is this possible or do I have to find other solutions to this?

Hi Bert,

This has to be, if not [color:"red"]the most requested feature, one of the top 5. For the life of me, I can not understand why FileMaker continues to ignore this requested feature.

To do this you would need a plugin such as;

Oazium Events from www.wmotion.com

Troi Activator from www.troi.com

ScriptIt from www.cnsplug-ins.com

I don't use Plugins, but I'm sure that one of the Plugins mentioned will provide you with the interface you are looking for. However, there is usually more than one way to accomplish things, and before I spent the money on a plugin, I would look at my design and see if there wasn't another way to do what I trying to do.

For instance, lots of times a button and a script will do just as well. You can also tailor the script to take a variety of actions based on the contents of the field or even a different field. I have a small example file that I could send you off list if you want. Here are a couple of URLs and files you might also want to look at.
