Printing to a Seiko Smart Label Printer 200

I have an application where I need to print one label at a time when needed on a Seiko Smart Label Printer 200. The label is 4" x 2-1/8". I can get it to print the label fine but it also insists on printing a second blank label. I know this is because I cannot (or I think I cannot) adjust the layout to be 4" x 2-1/8". I had to format it to be 4" x 2-1/8" in an 8 1/2" x 11 (Portrait) page layout. So it's printing the second half of the 8 1/2" as a blank.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

When you do a page setup for the label printer, does it allow you to select a page size that's the same as the label you're using?

Do the page break lines (the thick grey ones) show up in the proper place on your Filemaker layout?

Which version of Filemaker are you using, and which operating system?

Hi Bob,

I think your questions may have answered mine. I access this project remotely and I do not have a Seiko printer at my location, so I cannot see the page set up when the Seiko printer is selected. I'll let you know.

Thanks

You won't necessarily need to be directly connected to the printer, but you need to have the print driver installed on the computer that you are creating the layout on. That is how filemaker gets the page size information. If it thinks it's working on an 8.5x11 page, it will add extra space to the output to fill it up. The result will be extra labels printed.

With OS X you will actually need the printer no? I tried to do this a few weeks ago without success. It seems the print center does not allow you to add printers you can't see. Am I mistaken?
