outdoorsportz Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 I need to export from my FM inventory sytem to Quick Books. Quick Books needs the data in an ".iff" format. FM will not export in this format, and neither will Excel. Any ideas how to get my FM data in to Quick Books? Steven, Outdoor Sportz

jasonwood Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 If you don't want to use a plugin, you'll have to learn how an IIF file is formatted (it's just a text file, but the fields have to be organized in a specific way).
BobWeaver Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 I've had a look at the format of .iif files. You can export this format from Filemaker by creating some text calculation fields and then exporting these as a tab delimited file. However, it can be somewhat complex getting it set up. To find out the format of an .iif file. Try exporting some data from Quickbooks as .iif, and then open it up in a text editor to see how it is arranged. It's easy enough to see from that how the data is laid out. Then, you just have to create the text calculations in Filemaker to match.
