Sambo Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 I'm trying to import address label files from Pagemaker and Word, and not wishing to retype or cut and paste, I was wondering if there was an easier way. The addresses have been typed out in neat lines and arranged in columns to correspond to the label size. Has anyone any idea what I should do!? Sambo
Lee Smith Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 Hi sambo, The online Help in FileMaker is an excellent resource when it comes to doing things like this. The first thing that you need to find out is what formats FileMaker can read. You can do that by typing or pasting "importing data, About file formats" into the index window of your online FileMaker Help. You will see that there are several. Next you need to find out what formats your other applications can handle, and then it's a matter of matching them up. If the other application doesn't have a matching format, you may have to use a third application, such as a text editor, or you may for instance have to run the PageMaker file through Word. BTW, Do Not Save the Word documents in Word format, use plain text. Good Luck, you are in for a fun time, but once you get this part down, it does open up a lot of possibilities for things in the future. HTH Lee
