cosmo145 Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 Please help, I have just installed FileMaker Server 5.5 on our Mac OS Xserver machine and am trying to "serve" some files on our LAN. We have a mixture of Macs (some OS X and some OS 9.2). The problem is that the Macs running OS 9.2 can not "see" the files being hosted by the Xserver machine while the Macs running OS X can see the files being hosted. I don't know why this is (I am a Filemaker newbie) and really need some assistance. Thank you in advance for ANY help.
Newbies bartman Posted February 11, 2003 Newbies Posted February 11, 2003 AS far as I understand OSX Server is not the environment in which to run FMServer. OSX Darwin is the correct OS. Just regular OSX not the Server software. If this is a new license I would call FM just to make sure, but based on system requirements from the electronic documentation, it seems they steer you towards OSX Darwin. Good luck. bartman
Kurt Knippel Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 FM Server on any version of OS X can only server TCP/IP and NOT Appletalk. I'd bet that those problematic Macs are set to networking by Appletalk in the Filemaker Prefs.
