phatphish Posted February 13, 2003 Posted February 13, 2003 Does anyone know how to configure OSX so it starts FileMakerPro on system bootup? I found an article about starting FMPServer on system bootup, but not sure if that'll apply to FMP... Any suggestions?
Vaughan Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 The same as any other program under OSX: set it up in the login options, in System Preferences. Just like in System 6!
Newbies Mac Posted February 18, 2003 Newbies Posted February 18, 2003 I built a utiity that installs all the needed files and directories so that FM Server on OS X will automaticaly start all available databases which can be shared. Go to http://www.mactutor.net/products It is intended for OSX 10.2.x
Steve T. Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Hi, Lilo...uh, phatphish! Yeah.. we had a problem w/FMP autostarting, too... or actually, it would start FMP but not load our db's. We did some research and found that it's an OS X problem other folks are experiencing, too. Sometimes it has trouble opening several consecutive things and ends up ignoring them. Our workaround... We load FMP using the Login Items feature in Mac OS X followed by the Web Security Database. Then, we changed the Web Security Database opening script to also open our other databases in addition to the other WSD db's. You may have to try a different order but that one worked for us. I'm sure glad there's an option to auto-run a script when a db is first opened. We opted to open them all at once from WSD. If that doesn't work for you, try cascading them so opening one opens another which opens another, etc. Aloha! --ST
