John Harris Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Hi, Does anyone know how to send to a blind address from FM, eventually this will be runtime and crossplatform.
andygaunt Posted February 22, 2003 Posted February 22, 2003 a 'BBC' email. Is this sent to all 'ITV' contacts ???
John Harris Posted February 22, 2003 Author Posted February 22, 2003 Funny ! So it was late and I can't tpye ! Any better suggestions ?
andygaunt Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 I was just having some fun. I shouldn't say 'still can't then!' Have you looked into plug-ins. SMTPit from community networking www.cnsplug-ins.com will allow you to send emails 'direct' from FileMaker (including BCC) HTH
John Harris Posted February 23, 2003 Author Posted February 23, 2003 Thanks So there is no way of sending an email with a blind address via outlook or entourage, to the BBC or anyone else from filemaker. Wanted to be able to make runtime version which would work with users default mail client. soory about the speelling.
andygaunt Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 You 'may' (not sure, but possibly) be able to do this via the open url script line. You can use this to send mail (sometimes used for getting around issues on the mac) i.e. mailto:[email protected]?subject=Enter subject?body=enterbody of email I am not sure if you can add in cc or bcc here.
Pupiweb Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 AFAIK the mailto protocol supports CC but not BCC emailing Definitely go for a plugin or a mix of AppleScript/VB script
John Harris Posted February 24, 2003 Author Posted February 24, 2003 Just to say that the url email really nearly works, a script line insert calculation "mailto:" & Email_Main & "?Bcc=" & H_Email2 does work, with apple mail. However mailto:"mailto:" & Email Main & "?Bcc=" & H_Email2 & "?subject=BlahTest" & "?body=Blah or field" doesn't work as it puts the subject in the Bcc line, with apple mail, it does work fine with MS Entourage ! I assume if I create a comma seperated list I can email a group of people, haven't tried that yet. Just to say thanks and let anyone else who cares, know it's possible.
