Recommendation of Barcode Labels for Laser Printer

Featured Replies

I will soon be upgrading my Inventory Management System to utilize a barcoding system. I keep track of various printed materials for a medium sized company and want to print Barcode 39 labels to my laser printer instead of purchasing a specialized thermal printer. I will be printing at a very low volume. Does anyone have a recommendation of where to look for barcode labels? Does Avery make them? I will plan on printing from FMPro. Anything will help, thanks!

Any laser labels should be fine. There is no ideal material for barcodes as far as I know. You just need to find an appropriate size. Avery makes tons of choices.

Thanks Jason, that was what I was initially thinking, but I'm still green in this area. Best Regards, WHW

just a word of caution: if your labes are large enough, you don't need a thermal printer. however if the're small (2"*2") I've been told you need thermal printing for high rez labels to be able to scan them

Thermal would definitely be better than ink jet, but I would think laser would be the best. It's all about the accuracy of the printout.

The reflectiveness of the paper can also be a consideration. If it's highly reflective, and the ink doesn't cancel the reflectiveness, then your scanner won't see the bars. I'm not sure what type of printer would produce this result, but I've seen it happen.
