Is it possible to have a value list not attached to a field.

Example:

value list with only two selection

Pipe

Plate

would make a selection of either one and have another value list popup but would not like to have "Pipe or Plate" enter into the field but the information in the second value list.

Pipe or Plate is just to decide what value list to use

To do this the initial selection (pipe or plate) must be eneterd into some sort of field. After that you want a conditional value list based on the initially selected value.

Conditional value lists work on related files so there is a bit of self-assembly needed, but it's not especially hard.
