Hi...

New to developer. I ran the developer tool on my solution (7 FMPro dbases), selected the appropriate lead file and chose to continue. The Solution was created in a folder with several other files. The solution is labeled with the name I gave it and the extension .exe. When I launch this file it does not launch the program. It appears to get started but nothing happens...

Any ideas?

So glad to hear someone else is having this same problem. I'm working with FM Developer 5 in Windows 2000. For my specific situation, the problem is new. Working on this same project (on the same computer with all the same software and hardware) last Fall, I never had any problems launching the application. Now, to repeat GooRu's observation, "When I [try to] launch this file it does not launch the program. It appears to get started but nothing happens..."

I'm in the final stages of development of this solution and need to get it done today. Please give me some ideas.

Other possibly-useful information: 1) I am using the default binding key and the extension we registered when we became developers; 2) I thought this solution may be getting confused with past-bound versions that have the same extension, so I made up a different extension to distinguish the new from the old. . . this actually made the problem worse; 3) my investors are testing the most recent versions by opening the database files (which, to their eyes, seems to open my solution, with the small glitch that it requires a password . . . whereas the application does not). Now they think I'm a mere 10 minutes away from being DONE, when in actuality I'm miles from being done because of this NO-LAUNCH problem.

Please help with any ideas.

For starters:

GooRu: Which platform and operating system? Are you using any plugins?

Alleghany: Are you using plugins? Have you tried the solution on Win 98 or XP?

Both: What version of FM Developer?

No plugins. We don't have Windows 98 or XP. Developer 5

I had a similar problem when I installed a 5.5 runtime on a machine where there was already a 5.0 Client installed. The Problem went away after I deinstalled the 5.0 Client, and installed a 5.5 Client instead.

On another (VirtalPC) Machine, i had some strange behaviour after binding a Shared File. Make sure you set the files to singleuser prior to binding. (could not recreate the prob later)
