exporting to variable file name??

Featured Replies

The Plot:

I have a database where records are exported individually and merged with a document in Word97.

The Dream:

I understand I can set a script to automatically export a record to a pre-defined filename. However, what I would like to do, is script it to export it to a filename which is the data in the field "{fileno}.mer" for each record.

Not part of FMP's native feature set. You will need to use an external plugin or some OS-level scripting language to do it.

A worthy dream it is, kiwiora,

But, as Vaughan says, it is unfortunately not part of the FileMaker feature set at present.

However I have set up innumerable databases to do it, variously using each of the following (depending on the client's preference and other solution-related considerations):

Troi Automatisering - Troi File:

Comm-Unity Networking Systems - SAVEit

New Millennium Communications - DialogMagic:

Each of the above is shareware, with free demos available for download from the vendor's site. So if you're interested click over for a look! cool.gif
