Newbies DaveK Posted April 2, 2003 Newbies Posted April 2, 2003 Hi everyone, I've been racking my brains over this one, so hopefully some kind soul can help. My database contains many columns of mixed data. E.G. Date, Number, Percentage etc. I duplicated it in order to create a relationship. (It was all previously done on excel spreadsheet). My question is this..... Is there a way to do a search with the option of Equals Date, Does Not Equal Date, Is greater than date etc as in an auto-filter search as in excel. If so could someone explain it as I am lost. Incidentally, I would like to be able to have three or so different filters going at once. E.G. greater than or equal to 1/1/2003 AND greater than 20% AND less than 2. I have read the entire getting started manual and the full user guide, but just can't get my head around it. any help greatly appreciated. Dave.
Newbies DaveK Posted April 2, 2003 Author Newbies Posted April 2, 2003 Forgot to add that I wanted those symbols in the drop down menu as I am disabling user access to the sidebar "omit" and "symbols" area. Thanks.
Lee Smith Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Congratulations: This is the first time I have seen this request in the four plus years that I have been a member of these lists. IMHO I think you will have to script these to find buttons and maybe using a special layout. The trouble in using a value list is that once it puts the symbol in the field, you stand a chance for the user to remove it by entry. The only way to use the omit function is via the script step AFAIK. Lets see what others have to say too. Lee
cjaeger Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 i have found an ineresting technique to filter records using the restrict record acces by field value function: try opening using empty password then inspect permissions with password "master" This technique has certain limitations, but works well when NOT used on a self-join relationship. recordfilter.fp5.zip
