Can you automate Returns in a text field?

Featured Replies

Hi. I have a note pad field in which short paragraphs are added at the top to record most recent activity. Is it possible to have a script, attached to a button, that will insert two blank lines at the top of the field to prepare for entry of the next paragraph? Seems like inserting 2 returns would do it - if so, how do you indicate a return?

Hi

Try this in a script

Insert Calculated Result [ note pad , "

Lee, this works fine. Thanks.

A follow-on question though - I'm inserting a date before the paragragh marks and concatinating this with the existing text in the note field. This works fine also. How do I then make the cursor go to the space following the newly inserted date rather than being at the end of all text in the note field, which over time can get lengthy?

This has come up on a couple of other lists and I can't seem to find the threads yet, however, I did run accross this file in my resource file, and it is the approach I have used in the past.

I'll keep looking to see if there is another way.

Okay, I found a couple of articles on cursor placement. Most suggested using either a system such as I gave you above, or to consider using a portal of the notes.
