hello

im reasonable new with FM but have done some work with Access & lotus Approach

i can do most things i want to except this problem i have at the moment i have seen loads of things with simlier problems however i cant seem to find the right answer sorry for boring you all i have posted a few months ago but no one responded previous post.

ok there is 3 files involved

product.fp5

partslist.fp5

stocklist.fp5

product not overly important however it is the form part & i want the partslist to be in a portal.

those 2 bits are easy & work fine i can add parts in the portal parts list file

what i want is from a drop down box in the portal choose parts from the stock list & it auto fills the rest of the info in to the portal.

fields involved.

product:- partslistID (link to the partslist), ProductID(auto number), product(type of unit), make(manufactory), model(self explanatry), serialno(unit serial number), fault description (plus lots more fields to do with the fault & product not that important.

parts list:- lineID (link to the product database), part number, Qty(would like it to subtract form the stocklist Qty), description(autofill field), Unit Cost(Autofill field), total cost(a addition of the unit cost & Qty), status(manual field for the part status).

stock list:- LineID, part number, Stock level Qty(supossed kept stock), Actual Stock Qty, description, Supplier (not that important).

ive got various relationships & calculation fields but as this is eluding me im now confused with it so i am going to remove all relationships etc... start a fresh but this is were someones help would comes in, i have also uploaded a sample file with the relationships etc left in place so if someone would like a look then feel free & comments or pointers of what im try to do is greatly appreicated.

Ok, I found it using "Your Profile".

Wouldn't it be possible to fill it using a look-up. May be you could see this thread as there is an attachment with an auto-filed portal using lookup from a product file, while being in the Customer Order.

i was able to download the attachment from work so i dont know why you couldnt download it.

new i was thick not seeing it but you know u look at something so long you cant see the woods for the trees
