Export Data in Excel format

I have a small data base that anaylses data and then needs to email to someone else to import into their accounting program. I have everything working fine except they need Excel format. I should be able to write a small Applescript to open Excel, open the file and save as excel, then return to the script in FM to email the data. I just cannot get the Applescript to recognise the file or do anything. Is their a plug in to add Excel export capability or can somebody please advise on the applescript bit.

I just export as a DBF file. That can be opened in Excel without going through the whole import procedure.
