pradeep Posted October 29, 2001 Posted October 29, 2001 Thank You but I got how to get rid of it by substitute function.
pradeep Posted October 30, 2001 Author Posted October 30, 2001 While Importing from Excel I get these funny square elements in a text field. How do I get rid of them in my File Maker Field?I have tried to trim the data as well as try to substitute for carriage return, but to no use! Thank You
bbaliner Posted October 30, 2001 Posted October 30, 2001 Jakob, what I usually do is first import into DBF format, and then into File Maker. Importing directly from Excel into FM hasn't worked well for me.
danjacoby Posted October 31, 2001 Posted October 31, 2001 Those "funny square elements" are probably either higher-number ASCII characters that didn't import, or characters in a different font that didn't translate well into the font you're using. I've imported many Excel files into FMP with no problem -- in fact, it's much easier now that you can usually just open the Excel document within FMP, with no intermediate step necessary.
