Newbies Far Posted April 15, 2003 Newbies Posted April 15, 2003 I have FM Pro and FileMaker Server installed on my offices main network server machine. I designed a database on my machine - one of 15 on the network. If I open the database on my computer but from the shared folder on the network I become the host and other people can access the databse just fine. Well, hat is fine except I am not using the Filemaker Server that cost us a butt load of cash. If I try and open the database on the Server machine itself I get a network error... how do I actually use the Filemaker Server and get the office server to host the database?? PLEASE HELP! Thank you
Kurt Knippel Posted April 15, 2003 Posted April 15, 2003 Take the files OFF of the shared drive and place them in a folder INSIDE the FMServer application folder. Restart FMServer and those files will be opened automatically. Now you can use Filemaker to open the databases on the new FMServer host. Do NOT enable file sharing on the machine running FMServer.
