Newbies Catchesides Posted April 15, 2003 Newbies Share Posted April 15, 2003 In the Classic version of FM6, there's a Labels folder containing an XML file which specifies the label formats that will appear when creating a new labels layout. I'm trying to specify UK label sizes in a copy of FM6 running on OS 10.2.5, and I can't find an equivalent to this file. European label sizes (specifically Avery 7160) do not appear in the list when I create a new labels layout. How do I go about using non-US label sizes? cjaeger
The File Labels is a standard xml file which can be edited easily to your needs. In Mac OS X, select the FileMaker application, do a ctrl-click (or right mouse button) and select "show paket contents" You will find the label file in one of the enclosing folders. Editing the Labels File with FileMaker xml import will fail because the xml-declaration is in UPPECASE. change to lowercase and it will will work. danjacoby
Another reason why I never use the label formats, but create my own layouts/page setups.
Newbies Catchesides Posted April 16, 2003 Author Newbies Share Posted April 16, 2003 Okay, thanks. Is there a more elegant way of doing this that doesn't involve messing around with the package? Any settings elsewhere? Many thanks, Tom
cjaeger
a package is a set of normal files, so don't worry. Same applies to the layout files. This way of using your own definitions is documented in FM developer. I would recommend you save your definitions to a different file, so it does not get overwritten when you update FileMaker.
