Okay, FM 3.0 bit the dust finally. I was able to get a backup copy working. Now I have been able to recover the files but for some reason they won't work. So what I want to do is take just the data from that one day and move it to the working page.

Now what would be the best way of actually moving the data over? I can do a find for the date but then can I just export it directly to the other db or are there steps inbetween?

do a find for the date in every one of the recovered files,

the choose import .. from every of the backup files.

And the result was ..... no good. It inserted the data in the wrong files. grrrrrr Just gotta hate FM. No problem, I'll print out all of the records from that day and have an intern cut and paste them in. cool.gif

It's a poor workman who blames his tools...B)

If your FM is a little rusty, you might want to get some help with this. It doesn't sound like a big deal for someone familiar with the process.

That's why I'm asking.

But if the tool is a piece of crap, then a good workman knows to get a better one. smile.gif

It would SEEM to be easy. And it IS easy in every other db I can think of. Just match up the keys and insert the data. Tried to do that with FM and it either wants to overwrite records in some fashion only it can comprehend or add the records thus doubling up on what is already in existance.

I think the big problem is that one of the fields is a repeating field.

Oh well, having an intern cut and paste is a very good solution too laugh.gif
