yomaddog Posted April 21, 2003 Posted April 21, 2003 Hi everyone, Is it possible to set up a layout, & perform "Find" using: less than all the feilds on the layout? In other words, I want to leave some of my feilds on the layout out of the "Find" criteria...
Fitch Posted April 21, 2003 Posted April 21, 2003 That's how FileMaker works. Only the fields that you actually type in will be used for the Find.
peg Posted April 26, 2003 Posted April 26, 2003 As Tom mentions, that's exactly the way it works. When you ask FMP to do a find, a window comes up that looks exactly like the layout when you are entering data. You type in what you need to find, just in the field you need and you're good to go. Example: a simple address database -- lastname, firstname, address1, address2, city, state, zip and country. You want to find everyone who lives in Missouri. Ask FMP to find and in the state field type in MO or Missouri. Click find or hit enter and you should have all your Missouri people. Remember, though, that you should be in the habit of always entering data the same way. In the state field, for example, always use the two letter code OR spell it out, not one way sometimes and the other way other times.
